A Message From Dr. Wheelock
Benjamin Franklin is quoted as saying, “Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.” Fortunately at ESU 10, we have a continuous improvement process in place so that we can “partner with stakeholders to meet changing needs through professional expertise in providing services, learning opportunities, and support.”
ESU 10’s continuous improvement process is led by the UIT which stands for Unit Improvement Team. The UIT supports the work of four priority areas where committees focus our improvement efforts for the benefit of our stakeholders:
To provide professional, knowledgeable, responsive staff
To strengthen and develop customized products and services
To bridge gaps of time and distance through maximum utilization of resources
To assist our customers in identifying and achieving future goals
We recently had a UIT meeting where the committees shared information and data to keep us on our continual growth path. The UIT team is a strong example of ESU 10 staff working together collectively to offer our stakeholders a viable program of services that meet the needs of our member schools and promotes student achievement.
Based on our UIT data and AdvancedED review last year, improvement priorities have been put in place:
Data Use Policy & Plan
• Develop and implement a policy that provides for the collection, analysis, and use of a range of data sources related to program evaluation, strategic planning, and organizational conditions.
Program Evaluation
•Develop and implement a clearly defined and comprehensive program evaluation system that measures effectiveness and guides ongoing adjustments in delivery.
Strategic Plan
•Develop, design, and implement a long-range, agency based strategic plan that includes, but is not limited to, strategic resource management and operational initiatives in support of the purpose and direction of the agency.
Opportunity for Improvement: Continued Refining of Staff Evaluation
•Develop and implement an agency wide policy tasked to provide a staff evaluation process that results in improved professional practices.
Our UIT team will continue to address these priorities as we further our mission of serving YOU! I am proud that our ESU 10 staff looks at continual growth as “the way we do things.” This way will ensure our success as we learn and grow together. GO 10!
