Restorative Classroom Practices with Dominique Smith

Join dynamic speaker and author Dr. Dominique Smith to learn about the impact of restorative practices on behavior, academics, and social-emotional learning. This workshop takes a closer look at how restorative practices can be an alternative to punitive approaches to classroom management. Participants will learn key strategies for building relationships with students and discuss the importance of how equity plays a role in every approach in a school setting. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to
-accurately define restorative practices and the difference between proactive vs. reactive
-identify practices that teach students about the impact of their actions
-develop classroom and schoolwide routines that foster a restorative approach
-implement restorative grading practices and create a restorative climate

Dr. Dominique Smith is a restorative practices codeveloper who also specializes in classroom management, growth mindset, and the culture of achievement.

Participants will receive a copy of the book The Restorative Practices Playbook from Corwin.
