Lenny VerMaas, math teacher and consultant, will spend the day working collaboratively with teachers to develop their mathematical understanding, flexibility, adaptability and a growth mindset. Some highlights of the workshop include:
- Activities to promote student talk-- the person doing the talking learns the most!
- Alternatives to traditional homework assignments
- Strategies to help students see that expending energy and making mistakes are a part of the learning process
- Helping students understand introductory probability and statistics concepts
- Strategies to engage students and keep them interested in learning
