Regional Science Olympiad

The ESU 10 Regional Science Olympiad is for students in 6th-12th grade. Science Olympiad competitions are like academic track meets, consisting of a series of 12 team events in each division (Division B is middle school; Division C is high school). Each year, a portion of the events are rotated to reflect the ever-changing nature of genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering, and technology. By combining events from all disciplines, Science Olympiad encourages a wide cross-section of students to get involved. Emphasis is placed on active, hands-on group participation.

Elementary Science Olympiad

The Elementary Science Olympiad (ESO) is the perfect complement to any 4th-6th grade science program. ESO events take advantage of the natural curiosity of each child and allow for in-depth hands-on experiences. No prep for the events is necessary. Due to limited space, each school building can only bring 6 students.

STEMfest

STEMfest is kicked off with a "Be the Light" Stem Launch during the 1st semester!  Teachers are introduced to the design thinking process, how to integrate into their classroom, and how to engage students in designing a solution to an authentic problem in the school or community. Students learn about the design process that results in a product or prototype for April STEMfest!

STEMfest is a culminating event for K-12 students in April.  This is the students opportunity to present the process and products/prototype they created to design a solution to an authentic problem.

Digital Citizenship Symposium

bit.ly/NEDIGCIT
The Digital Citizenship Symposium is a statewide student event hosted by Educational Service Units throughout Nebraska. School districts bring teams of students and adults to hear speakers who focus on digital leadership, digital citizenship, and online safety. The teams also have time to create a plan for digital citizenship for their buildings.

This event typically occurs early in the school year so that school teams have time to implement their plans and increase awareness of digital leadership in their schools and communities. ESU 10 has hosted a regional site since 2011.
