ESU 10 HQIM Math Cadre
ESU 10 HQIM Math Cadre
October 26, 2021
Hillary Rasmussen
Dianah Steinbrink and I launched our ESU 10 High Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) Math Cadre to ESU 10 school administrators and teachers. The ESU 10 HQIM Math Cadre presents an opportunity for districts to collaborate with other teachers and administrators throughout ESU 10 when evaluating, selecting, and adopting new high quality math instructional materials.
We have designed our ESU 10 HQIM Math Cadre to take place over the course of two years. This timeline has allowed us to coordinate with the Nebraska math standards, which are due to be revised and adopted by this time next year. A few districts are planning on evaluating, selecting, and adopting new high quality instructional math materials this year for various reasons. We have adjusted the timeline to meet their individual needs.
Our first training was held on September 29th and October 6th for Math Cadre participants. We gave the option of two days to the participants so we could accommodate the schedules of our districts and reach the maximum number of educators. Throughout the two days, we had over 75 people attend the professional learning opportunity. The focus of the day was laying the foundation of our HQIM Math Cadre by focusing on the eight effective mathematics teaching practices and pedagogy. We also spent time exploring the key instructional shifts for quality implementation of our College and Career Ready Nebraska Math Standards.
Dianah and I are very excited to provide this professional development and collaboration opportunity to our ESU 10 districts and look forward to our continuing partnership with our member schools.
