A Message From Dr. Wheelock

A Message From Dr. Wheelock Many exciting things take place during the month of February at ESU 10. Since it is known as the LOVE month, here are a few highlights:

L - Legislature - The legislative season has begun. Please be sure to stay informed and involved with our Nebraska Legislature. Our Senators want your feedback and expertise in order to make informed decisions on a wide variety of topics that directly and indirectly make an impact on education.

As Richard Warren stated, “The most desired gift of love is not diamonds or roses or chocolate. It is focused attention.”

O - Oh the weather and illness - It seems our schools have been hit with sickness, ice, school closings, and the rescheduling of activities. These factors create challenges, however I have been impressed by the continued focus on the well-being and success of our students. Keep making your positive impact each and every day!

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe has stated it well, “We are shaped and fashioned by what we love.”

V - Variety - ESU 10 provides a wide variety of services, and we have goals in place for strategic planning and defining our processes on the use of data. We are utilizing our new evaluation tool and continue to build upon it. ESU 10 appreciates the opportunity to grow in order to provide the services that best meet your needs.

After all, as Albert Ellis stated, “The art of love is largely the art of persistence.”

E- Every school - As I type this newsletter, we have scheduled 28 annual school visits and  intend to meet with every ESU 10 member school. Our ESU 10 directors and I are visiting with school superintendents, principals, and teams to review and plan for the 2019-2020 school year. This collaborative process has proven to be valuable and essential in best utilizing our resources to meet school district needs.

One of my favorite quotes comes from Steve Job, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.

We love partnering with stakeholders to meet changing needs through professional expertise in providing services, learning opportunities, and support.  Enjoy this month with your loved ones and colleagues. GO 10!
