Callaway High School Receives Grant

January 28, 2015
The Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation has awarded $2400 from the John Russell Applegate Fund for Teachers to the Callaway High School. The funding will allow for the purchase of a drone, a GoPro camera, and video editing software.

Students enrolled in Current Events and Business Technology classes will be engaged in the Promo Plus project which will utilize a video camera mounted on a drone to capture school and community activities in Callaway, Nebraska. Students will be charged with production, editing, and communicating to school and community organizations on the availability of the project and for presenting/delivering completed videos to school/community organizations. Students also plan to post videos on the school’s website and YouTube channel.

Mark Whitacre, ESU 10/Kearney Public Schools Grant Writer/Coordinator says, “This is an innovative project blending the development of technology skills with literacy skills for students to become proficient in technologies and writing/reading scripts to describe the action.
