Teaching and Learning Department Director Named

May 21, 2014
My name is Denise O’Brien and I am excited to begin my role as Teaching and Learning Department Director at ESU 10 on July 1, 2014. I began my career in education teaching social science at North Platte St. Patrick’s High School and Grand Island Northwest High School. In 2007, I left the classroom to begin my work as a Professional Development Coordinator at ESU 10. Over the years, I have obtained my Master of Arts Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Endorsement in Administration 7-12, and am currently working on my Education Specialist Degree.

My husband, Ed and I are natives of Grand Island, Nebraska. We have two sons, Logan and Caleb. Logan is in fifth grade and Caleb is in third. We moved to Kearney in 2009 and continue to enjoy the community. Ed and I love watching our boys play sports and spend our free time transporting them to all of their activities. We enjoy traveling as a family. Our most recent vacation was to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The trip was not my ideal location for relaxation but we had a fun time.

Over the next two months, department members and I will work to create common language, expectations, and priorities for our newly created Teaching and Learning Department. We are looking forward to blending the knowledge and skills of department members to create quality products and services for ESU 10 school districts.
