2014 Friend of Autism

Kelly DeVorss, a former STEPS participant from the Central Region has demonstrated extraordinary effort and skill at serving individuals with ASD. Kelly, a speech/language pathologist working for ESU 10 in Shelton, was recognized for her commitment, vision, innovation, and inspiration and presented the 2014 Friend of Autism Award at the NE ASD Conference on April 3, 2014. Kelly was nominated for this award by a cohort of her administrators, district teachers, ESU 10 colleagues, and parents of individuals with autism in the Shelton school district. Her nomination contained the following from Shelton superintendent Brian Redinger: “I would like to recognize Mrs. DeVorss for not only making a difference for her students, but for also making a difference for our entire school. Her cheerful service, commitment to expanding her knowledge and professional skills for the sake of overcoming Autism, make her a friend of all, and most certainly a Friend of Autism.”
