Academic Literacy Project- Grades 4-12 Day 2  


2-Day Series:  Day 2 will focus on increasing reading comprehension and text discussion opportunities.

ESU 10 Teaching & Learning staff will model strategies and share examples of how teachers are increasing student comprehension in content area reading.  There will be strategies modeled and shared that will increase opportunities for teachers to involve students in text discussion.

Academic Literacy Project goals are to become familiar with and implement research-based literacy strategies that will increase student achievement for all learners. The 2-day training will be based on the following research-based recommendations:
   · Provide explicit vocabulary instruction
   · Provide direct and explicit comprehension strategy instruction
   · Provide opportunities for extended oral language opportunities
·   Increase student motivation and engagement in literacy learning

Day 1 was September 15, 2020 and Day 2 is January 28, 2021 - Dates are listed separately so you must register for each date.

Perkins Consortium member schools will receive $100.00 substitute reimbursement for each classroom teacher participating in the project. Perkins Consortium schools will also receive round-trip mileage for one vehicle when at least 1 CTE teacher participates. 

ESU 10 Title IIA Schools will receive $100 substitute reimbursement per day for core content area teachers as listed in NCLB Title IIA guidance.

Registration deadline is two weeks prior to workshop.  Cancellations not received 2 business days in advance will be billed the workshop fee.
