Fall Analytical Scoring of Student Writing Samples

An opportunity for districts to gather early data for each student in fourth, eighth, and eleventh grades is offered again this fall at ESU 10. Each student paper is assessed separately for each domain by two trained writing teachers for a minimum of  8-12 individual evaluations per paper.

Analytical scoring is designed to provide teachers, students, parents, and districts with disaggregated information regarding writing strengths and areas for improvement. Data gathered from this workshop will assist with identifying instructional focus and student practice necessary to increase performance on the State-wide Writing Assessment. Past participants have found the professional conversations and results from the analytical scoring process to be very valuable in supporting instruction in the classroom.

Once registered, you will receive instructions necessary for participating and submitting students' papers. Districts must send one evaluator per 30 student papers per grade level and participate in both days of scoring.

Student papers must be submitted to ESU 10 by Friday, September 26, 2014.
